Global South Health Ventures

Global South Health Ventures works on market entry, product development and support services for healthcare companies moving into Global South markets, across laboratory equipment, cold chain, hospital and neonatal equipment, and medicines and vaccines. Startup Savera built their Section 80-IAC application deck and the supporting research.

The client

GSHV is registered in India as an LLP and holds DPIIT recognition. Its work sits between manufacturers and the health systems that need their equipment: laboratory equipment, cold chain, hospital equipment, neonatal equipment, and medicines and vaccines. Its stated position is equality in health, and the markets it serves are the ones where cold chain and neonatal equipment are hardest to get and matter most.

Industry and audience

The audience for this particular piece of work was not a customer. It was an assessor. Section 80-IAC is a tax exemption granted to DPIIT recognised startups by an inter ministerial board, and the application is read by people whose job is to find the reason to decline. That is a very different reader from a buyer, and it wants very different writing.

The problem

Deep sector businesses lose these applications on presentation, not on merit. The board is looking for a clearly articulated innovation, a defensible market, and evidence that the company is what it says it is, all inside a short document read quickly alongside many others. A company can be genuinely innovative and still fail to make that legible in the format the board reads.

How we helped

We researched the sector and the scheme first, then built the deck around what the board is actually assessing rather than around a general company story. Every claim in the document traces to a verifiable source, and anything unconfirmed was flagged on the page for the client to supply rather than filled in with something plausible. The output was produced as a print quality PDF built to the submission constraints, including the upload size limit and properly embedded fonts, because an application that will not upload is an application that was not made.

GSHV’s own site is live at globalsouthhealth.com and sets out the services and product categories described above. The Section 80-IAC deck and its research file were delivered to the client by Startup Savera. This engagement is the firm’s most internationally connected piece of work to date.

How we worked together

Closely and factually. The document could only be built from things the client could evidence, so the working pattern was a running list of what was confirmed and what still needed a source. Nothing went into the deck to fill a gap. Where the client could not yet supply a figure, the slide said so.
